2017 – A year full of change, transition and new beginnings. A Year in Review.
This has been some year. 2017, in short, you’ve been brilliant! Here is my Year in Review…
In which I wax lyrical about what I was doing before photography…
I started the year in a run of the mill office job in central Dublin City. I was going through the motions and not really feeling like I could do the job to my fullest capabilities. I’d had plenty of opportunities working with Elisha in the months previous and I was loving it. Working alongside her was brilliant, getting to meet so many amazing couples and capture their day was incredibly eye-opening.
As it transpired, an opportunity to walk away and get more hands-on experience with Elisha came and I took it with both hands. I threw myself into the background work, getting more acquainted with her website, and other admin tasks. This then allowed her to focus more on shooting and editing!
It is immensely freeing to work for yourself, to learn so many new aspects of running a business and it’s a path I hope to continue walking as we turn the corner towards the New Year.
As with Elisha, I cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for us work-wise!
New Beginnings… and New Unions…
Like I said before, 2017 was a year of change, of new beginnings… What better new beginning to write about than that of a family? I got married. to the woman of my dreams! Elisha’s the one person in life that makes everything else better by just being by my side. Elisha, thank you for saying “yes” last year. It’s been an incredible journey, getting to know you, to grow so much with you and I can honestly say, you are the best thing that ever happened to me.
Bringing our two families together to celebrate our love for one another was the highlight of all years! It’s been great to meet and learn about all of the new faces in our lives, both personal and professional. It was a lesson in how to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can and a modicum of wisdom to know the difference. 😉 Both myself & Elisha also owe a debt to Emma & Pete from Emma Case Photography for their work and allowing us the chance to get our memories back of our day! That’s the WHY I love this job!
Give me all the love.
I am also blown away by all of the support, love and guidance that has been imparted to me this year. I cannot stress enough how much it means to me to have had the backing of so many people in my life in this new adventure & for accepting Elisha into your own world and making her feel as if she’d always been there. Thank you.
To those who’ve been super encouraging of my own photographic journey, all of your kind words have been taken completely to heart and I will strive to only get better in 2018! It’s been amazing learning at the feet of brilliant photographers such as Sean Curtin & Kate O’Connor. It was a joy when I got to meet them at their incredible “Feckin Workshop” back in May. You guys ROCK!
To our clients – Past & Present!
To all the couples who’ve placed their trust in both Elisha & myself, I thank you! We cannot wait to get to work with you all to capture your special day. We are bursting with excitement for you all and I will be hugging each and every one of you tightly when we get to meet you!
As a Year in Review goes, 2017 was a whopper!
Here’s to 2018!
May the Force be with you all…
